I recently tried the Special K dark chocolate muesli from Kellogs. Tasty but so extremely sweet! As I try to eat little sugar, I made a healthier version. You won’t be disappointed – there’s chocolate inside ? -.

I took this quick snapshot in the grocery store. Main ingredient after oatmeal? SUGAR. Shocking? Nope. Do I want to eat it? Yes. Is it healthy? Not really. That’s why I made my own version. Here’s  my recipe!

Here’s what I used:

  • 250 grams oatmeal
  • 90 grams honey (use more if you like it sweeter because the chocolate is not sweet)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 90 grams dark chocolate (min 70% cacao)
  • 1 cup chopped hazelnuts (biological, not roasted)
  • 2 tbsp dried coconut
  • 1 tsp (or less) cinnamon
  • 2 drops almond extract

Preheat the oven on 150 degrees.

Mix the honey with the water in a heat proof bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds or until liquid.

Mix the dry ingredients and pour in the honey mixture.

Stir well until combined.Spread the granola mixture on a baking tray lined with cookie sheets and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Don’t forget to toss once every 15 minutes or so.

When the granola cooled down, add in your chopped up dark chocolate pieces. Mix well and add to a bowl.

Now, don’t try to eat the whole batch in one time! I know it’s a delicious alternative to the overly sweet special K one but still, be reasonable ?. I absolutely love it and I think so will you.Let me know if you try it out!
